This Gallo-Roman beverage is a retranscription of an offering wine from the 1st century, inspired by the legend of Cybele.
This honeyed wine, flavoured with essences of Mediterranean plants, was made in the province of Narbonnaise and exported throughout the Empire from the port of Narbo Martius (Narbonne) to the port of Rome (Ostia).
This beverage is made from a fragrant, juicy white wine from the Vermentino grape variety, which is widely grown along the Mediterranean coast.
The only recipe for these Gallo-Roman drinks comes from the writings of the famous Roman agronomist Columella, born in Cadiz in the 1st century.
Serve chilled, but not iced, with cheeses and desserts or, like the Romans, with GUSTATIO (today's tapas aperitif).
